Corte Madera and Larkspur are often called twin cities. The two vibrant towns, bordered by Mill Valley, Mount Tamalpais, San Rafael and the bay, share a common police department and a school district. Every Fourth of July there is a classic hometown parade, which includes live music, arts and crafts, food and children’s activities.
Corte Madera lies at the foot of legendary Mount Tamalpais. From the edge of the San Francisco Bay, Corte Madera’s natural setting is breathtaking. Shopping is convenient, and includes two of Marin County’s finest shopping centers — The Town Center and The Village at Corte Madera. The Corte Madera Certified Farmers’ Market, overflowing with California grown produce, occupies the central courtyard in the Town Center every Wednesday afternoon. Corte Madera also has its share of outstanding California restaurants which offer diverse dining experiences.
Early Queen Anne Victorians, false-front store facades, a Mission revival-style church and City Hall, all evoke the flavor of Larkspur’s past, woven into a comforting modern community. Downtown Larkspur is officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a typical turn-of-the-century town. The fashionable stores and restaurants that line downtown’s Magnolia Avenue along with dozens of historical buildings, including the Blue Rock Inn and the newly-restored Lark Theatre – a 1930’s art deco movie house – all make Larkspur a fantastic place to live within the Central Marin area.
